I have used Android phones for more than 15 years, yet I still come across android features many users overlook. Some of these tools saved me time, fixed small issues, and helped me avoid mistakes like losing important notifications. And I know you will find them useful too.

Privacy and Security Features

1. Notification History

This feature helped me recover missed alerts several times. Once you enable it, you stop worrying about swiping something away by accident.

2. Screen Pinning

This is one of my favorites. I use this whenever I hand my phone to someone. It keeps them inside that particular app they want access to and protects your private content.

  • Open Settings and search for “Screen Pinning” or “App Pinning
  • Enable it
  • Turn on the PIN requirement for unpinning
  • Open Recents, tap the app icon, and select Pin

3. Smart Lock

Smart Lock is helpful when you are at home, in the office or any other safe place you frequently visit. It removes the need to unlock your phone every minute.

Performance and Productivity Tools

4. Split Screen

I like this tool as well, I use split screen often when comparing information or replying to messages while checking another apps. Although some apps do not support this feature.

  • Open Recents
  • Tap the app icon
  • Select Split Screen
  • Choose the second app

5. Share Wi-Fi with QR Code

This saves time when visitors want to connect to your network. No more typing long passwords.

  • Go to Settings > Network and Internet
  • Select your connected Wi-Fi
  • Tap Share and verify
  • Others scan the QR code

6. Quick Tap or Back Tap

This feature feels convenient when you want a quick screenshot or shortcut. I set it up because I often take screenshots for work, and the button combination sometimes fails. The gesture made the process simple.

Developer Options

Developer Options gives more control over your phone. I use a few settings here because they offer simple quality-of-life improvements. Pls use this feature with caution, any wrong settings can make your phone to start misbehaving.

How to Enable Developer Options

  • Go to Settings > About Phone
  • Tap “Build Number” seven times

7. Speed Up Animations

Reducing animations is one of the first tweaks I make on new devices. The difference becomes clear when opening and closing apps.

8. Force Dark Mode

This option gives old apps a darker look and helps reduce eye strain at night.

These features make my daily phone use easier and more comfortable. When I showed a few of them to a friend, he was surprised at how much control he already had on his device without installing extra apps. Try the features that fit your routine and see how they improve your experience.
